The State of the Union Wishlist

President Obama has a lot planned for 2014. He wants to all he can to work around congress so that he can get his plans in action. He already signed an executive order to raise minimum wage for government contracted employees to $10.10 an hour.

Here are some of my opinions on the issue. I will probably be making an article on one of these in the near future.

Minimum Wage – Good idea, people should be able to work without being in poverty. I would also want to see some people make a hell of a lot less money because they don’t deserve it, but that will never happen… alas.

Retirement Savings – Good idea. I would love to see less people needing Social Security. It was originally to keep elderly people out of poverty.

Job Training Reform – Good idea and badly needed

Unemployment – Good idea but I feel like most of it should be provided by people who are capable of making jobs and not the government. I would love to see more private investment.

Environment – Good idea and great incentive to make a better world. It will also open the path to more innovations I hope.

Universal Pre – K – I think that there should be significant investment in early childhood education from the public and private sector. Toddlers are so impressionable.

Families – Good idea and I think that it is necessary to give them the help and opportunities they need. We should not just give them money, but we should provide for more opportunities and incentives to do so.

Immigration – Badly needing reform. Again, it is about opportunity and not giving them immediate financial aid.

Unemployment Benefits – Badly needed and there should be incentive on the business side and the employment side to provide many opportunities.

Taxes – I believe that we should move to a Fair Tax system. I think it would be more fair and it would throw away all the tax code that we are under.

Minimum Wage – I don’t think that working adults should live in poverty but children should not earn that much, especially if they are living at home and going to school. Limit the amount of hours students can work and allow adults to work full time. I think that CEO’s do not need billion dollar bonuses. I don’t think that talentless celebrities need any money either.

Manufacturing – More US products, more innovation, more streamlined. We can do better.

Trade – Good for the global economy

Guantanamo Bay – hahahahaha wait….. was that closed in 2009? 2010? 2011? 2012? 2013? 2014? I doubt it

Iran – Seriously there is nothing wrong with them. They just hate Israel and they are not really a friend to us. They just suck all the money out of us. Although they give “Christians” incentives to support the troops.

In other news, winter weather hits Georgia and they were not prepared for it at all. Justin Bieber also wastes our time again. Millennials are inventing a new religion.

Now for some inspiration. You can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk? Practice what you preach always and do not forget who you are, where you came from, or what you are capable of.
