Why can’t we pay based on the channels that we watch?

All of us are wondering why we can’t just pay for the channels that we watch. Many of us are looking to get rid of cable because of all the “useless” channels that we have and can’t get rid of in an attempt to lower our bills. Fact is, the cable companies may want to as well, but can’t. The reason why… media ownership. Let’s take a look at the companies and the channels that they actually own.

As you can see, there are a few companies that own all the channels on TV and they probably sign billions of dollars worth of contracts in a package deal where the cable companies have to carry all the channels. Alas, I don’t see it happening and our dreams of customized television may not come to pass.

This reminds me, the Hite Media Corporation will get in on this as well. Although we will specialize in online content and magazines/newspapers/publications, we will have movie studios and television channels as well.
