What is with all the Satanic Masses?

In a few weeks, the Oklahoma Satanists are holding their Black Mass in the Civic Center park in Oklahoma City. They are doing this to ‘educate’ people, but they are really stretching the bounds of the first amendment. They are claiming that, because Christians are using public spaces to promote their own religion, they should be able to also. Not everyone is against it, but it is sure to rile up a lot of protests by their presence in the Christian majority and Christian loving region. What is a black mass?

A Black Mass is a ritual characterized by the inversion of the Traditional Latin Mass celebrated by the Roman Catholic Church. The history of such rituals is unclear before the modern era. The Black Mass was allegedly celebrated during the Witches’ Sabbath.[1]
The clarity of the celebration of the Black Mass in medieval times is imprecise; some sources referring to Black Masses during the medieval period appear to be lurid manuals that seem to have been written for witch-hunters in Latin, such as the Malleus Maleficarum (1486) and the Compendium Maleficarum (1608). There are arguments claiming that the Black Mass served solely as a shock method in order to accuse enemies for several reasons[citation needed], but there also remain various sources claiming that it was practiced throughout Western history and currently in the modern era for the sole purpose of Satanic worship and sacrifice in ridicule of Christianity.

They are doing something that is completely in line with the law. They are all doing it with consent. There is theoretically nothing wrong with the idea, but I guess we will have to wait and see who is for it and who is against it. The Catholic Church, obviously, has already spoken out about it, but some progressive churches are welcoming the idea that it is bringing people together from different faiths to observe what other people believe. It is sure, however, to spark people’s attention in this heavily Christian area of the country.
