Slacktivism in Syria

There is a tragedy going on in the world right now and we are just taking a back seat to it. It seems to be such a non-issue to us that we do not even allow these people into our country by means of asylum. There are people out there all over the world that are kicked out of their own homes and they want nothing more in the world than to have a new home and to bring some form of normalcy into their life once more. We are a nation that was built on people doing the exact same things from all over the world.

The United States is unique among western countries. We have some of the most loose immigration policies in the world despite what the news is telling us about immigration. We are a culture that is derived from a ton of other cultures. While there are some bad apples in the bunch, most of the people who are fleeing Syria and the war that has devastated their lives are good people who will put in the hard work to make it no matter what. That is why I think we should bring them over and build a new life for themselves. Given the same situation, we would want other people to give us the same chance.
