Toxic Theology

There are some aspects of the theologies of many religions that should have been gotten rid of a long time ago, yet, even in the 21st century, such things still endure. This has been the cause of significant political and social strife. Some of these things are so archaic sounding that they seem to have no place in this century and in this culture. There is a significant gap in many areas of religion’s influence and that is why it seems that more people than ever before are leaving and not coming back. There needs to be a balance between the preservation of tradition in the modern world.

The best way to do this is to not emphasize the archaic theology. Not only does it exist, but there are a lot of people who will use this as a point of differentiation. We do not seek to be peculiar and we do not seek to be different. We want to be able to come together. This does not mean that we have to change who we are, but we should not be looking at the things that will set us apart. It means that we should find and focus on the things that will bring us even closer to one another.
