Religious Education

There are a lot of people in the world that do not know anything about religion, let alone their own religion. There are a lot of people who do not care about religion and they tend to either know nothing about religion or they are well versed with religion. However, there are a lot of people who also claim to be believers in a certain religion and they do not know anything about their own religion. When a self-professed Christian cannot name the gospels of their own holy book, you have to wonder how little they know of some of the deeper aspects of their religion. There are a lot of people who rely on this and prey on those same people for their own gain.

The Christs were well versed in their own scriptures of the religions they believed in at the time. They could not understand the context of their own teachings without having to understand the religion of the region they were in. The prophets could not be at the seat they are at and be the person that they strive to be without knowing the scriptures of their own religion. Priests could not be members of the priesthood and take part in all their duties without knowledge of their own scriptures. What is preventing you from doing the same?

Religion, despite its truthfulness and your opinion of it, is a driving force in world politics. One cannot understand the nature of wars and conflicts without understanding religion. One cannot understand the dynamics of political parties and voting blocs without understanding their religious makeup. Religion is an important thing to study no matter what your personal beliefs are. We should not show bias in our study and judgment in their beliefs, but we should know their history and their culture so we can be better equipped for the future.
